PROGRAMS

Here is a list of some of the programs we offer here at Rainbow Shabbat. Of course, we are happy to customize anything to the needs and wants of your community. We can do anything from a simple Friday night to an entire Shabbaton of programming.

Tot Shabbat

Whether it be with Raymond, Miss Livinya, or Aunt Shirley, the Kiddos are sure to have a blast welcoming Shabbat with singing, dancing, and stories that showcase just how similar we are.

A vibrant musical performance takes place inside a spacious room with large glass windows and lush greenery outside. A performer with pink hair, colorful attire, and exaggerated makeup is singing into a microphone. Nearby, musicians are playing guitars, and a woman in a red blazer is conducting or engaging with the audience. The audience, consisting of diverse elderly and middle-aged individuals, is seated and attentively watching the performance.

Erev and Morning Shabbos Service

Both Erev and Shabbat Morning services include readings and meditations through the lens of queer Judaism, and there are several sermons that preach love, tolerance, and acceptance as key Jewish principles. Raymond works directly with your clergy team to craft a custom service for your community.

Community Talk Back and Q&A

Want to find out what it is like being a Gay Jewish Drag queen with a pulpit? Or how other communities around the world are responding to rainbow Shabbat and queer culture in thir synagouge? Ask away in this Q&A talk back session where nothing os off the table. Ask anything from politics to what I had for breakfast.

Stand up with Aunt Shirley

The Jewish aunt that you never wanted but somehow don't want to get rid of. Aunt Shirley (Oy/They) is known to be a loving (though somewhat overbearing) mother with a seemingly insatiable appetite for gossip. She is considered to be a typical Jewish mother, offering uninvited  guidance, most often eating, and always trying to convince you of a story from 30 years ago about a relative you have never heard of. Always ready to pinch your cheeks and never afraid to bear the shame, Aunt Shirley's stand-up is a hit!

Lunch N’ Learn workshop

Nothing hits the spot like lunch after services on Shabbat morning! Enjoy a nosh while learning about the different aspects of Torah from the queer perspectave. *There are several different versions of this workshop to choose from, so let's chat and see what is the best fit for your community's needs
